New Balance Embraces Ties With Run Specialty Stores [Small Business Saturday Series]

How many days a year do you shop locally? Small Business Saturday occurs the Saturday after Thanksgiving and is an annual event that reminds consumers to spend their dollars in local communities. This year, Promoboxx started a new Small Business Saturday initiative to encourage our brand partners to run paid ad campaigns with their local, specialty stores. New Balance is the first brand highlighted in this special Small Business Saturday series.

New Balance started as a specialty store nearly 30 years ago, which has led to a special relationship and respect for their local retail partners.  The footwear brand embraces their connection to local businesses and recognizes the instrumental role run specialty stores play in constructing the pinnacle consumer experience.

New Balance will be featuring the 860v8 shoe in their Small Business Saturday campaign. The 860v8 shoe is one of New Balance’s most thought about stability shoes, designed to be the “go to” workhorse for runners who need a little additional support. It’s also sold exclusively through specialty retail and NewBalance.com.

New Balance is currently running a campaign on Promoboxx promoting the 860v8 shoe, and retailers who are using the content are seeing fantastic results. We recently asked retailers who participated if they found success by sharing content from the campaign on their social channels and found:

  • 43% saw an increase in FB page engagement due to the content
  • 24% saw new customers buying the product in their store after seeing the post
  • 19% saw an increase in traffic to their website during the time they were promoting content
  • 14% had customers asking about the campaign in their store

Limiting the availability of these shoes puts trust in the fit expertise of run specialty and provides a unique selling opportunity.

New Balance is offering funds for targeted Facebook advertising to retailer locations across the country via Promoboxx Local Ads. Through the use of geo-targeted advertising on social media, New Balance helps these retailers place co-branded 860v8 shoe marketing content in front of running enthusiasts in their area to drive awareness of the 860 and increase traffic, both in-store and online.
